National
Groups Presidents 2003 annual report
Thank you to CSL for keeping us afloat with $1,000 which covers Conferlink
and Postage. Also thank you to Snap Printing, St. Kilda, for sponsorship
of the "INVoice" and our new Council Letterhead.
Internationally
On our behalf I am in touch with Canada, U.K., Canada, Ireland, New
Zealand and Denmark. Through this Sharon Marcussen President of the
newly constituted GBS Assoc. of Denmark came to stay with her husband
for a few days.
We are presently working on getting an Australian Reconstructive
Surgeon (to whom I am a part-time Secretary) who specialises in working
world-wide
with neuropathies to Denmark to help Danish CIDPERS, GBS, and Doctors.
This is very political and may take another 12 months. I missed out
on Conference in New Zealand due to Visa problems but met up with
patients in Christchurch and over the phone whilst there. 150 attended
- I will
go in 2005.
I have received some letters from Poland, Greece, and Fiji and was
able to help them.
Around Australia
Canberra has started with Gayle Harding.
Adelaide - a Wendy Husker nurse at the Hampstead Rehab. Hospital
interested in setting up already
has a nucleus of patients. Thank you to those who sent reports
to her for me.
CSL asked me to attend a meeting with them next month to discuss
a questionnaire to find out shortages around Australia for our
members. Also to discuss putting a proposal to them for more funding
to enable
the Council to grow.
All States doing well with support to their patients, and members.
Those with Websites getting many visits to them.
Thank you everyone for being there for me and especially to Secretary/Treasurer
Melva
Vilma Clarke
